Activities Description

 

The Lodge is situated on the edge of the small village of Colonia Carlos Pelligrini.  It encompasses four areas of native vegetation which are bordered by the lagoon.  Activities at the Lodge have been carefully planned for each guests maximum enjoyment.  The following are various activities which are included in the lodge stay.

Boat Rides

 Two different tours of the marshland begin at the lodge wharf.

 The Lodge tour guide was born and raised in the region and has worked  with the nature reserve.  He has an in depth knowledge of the region and it’s animals, which ensures successful sitings.  On the tours you will see a very colorful, landscape, full of native flora and fauna of the Ibera   ecosystem. Opportunities abound for seeing Capybaras or “Carpinchos”, alligators, river otters, marsh deer, as well as 350 different species of bird . The tours are approximately 2 hours each.

Canoes

The canoe is an excellent way to slowly glide through the Ibera lagoon while taking photos of the wonderful landscape. Going slowly you will easily see herons, jacanas, capybaras, and ducks, just to name a few of the birds and animals in the surrounding environment.

4WD Tours

Another activity is a 2 hour tour by car which will take you through a different section of the marshlands surrounding the lagoon. Driving through the area allows you to sight birds and animals easily, even getting out of the car to take pictures.  Again the tour is given by  the Lodge tour guide who is a native of the Region.

Horse back rides

Several horseback rides are available:

-Palmares Caranday: Approximately a 2 hour’s ride through neigh paring areas of the lagoon crossing palm forests, and marshy areas.

-Pellegrini: Approximately a one-hour ride through the tour of Carlos Pellegrini, you will ride past many areas of cultural interest.

-Camba: This is a whole day ride from Pellegrini to Camba. Along the way you will cross the Palmares (palm forest) and arrive at the house of Jose where you will enjoy a typical “Correntino” stem for lunch. After lunch you will rest and then return to Pellegrini.

 

Natural and cultural expedition

During a 3 hours tour (approximately) you will travel to different landscapes to include: the Paranaense forest, the eastern Chaco, and the “zone of refuge” for nocturnal animals such as the fox.

You will also get to know about the “correntino farm” with its life style, its building construction and culture.

Noctural long walk

A one hour guided walk is available, on the walkyou will enjoy the nocturnal sounds of night birds, amphibians and insects. You may also see animals that are active at night such as, foxes and capybaras.

 

Ibera Nature Reserve

Ibera is different, unique and magical.

You will be pleasantly surprised at the abundant wildlife, the incredible starry nights, the sound of silence, and the friendliness of its people.

 Bird watching

There are more than 300 species of birds that you will have the opportunity to see. The staff at Posada de la Laguna have specialized guides who will accompany you on your bird watching adventure.
